Not this poetry business again…

Chiku performing at PillowTalk

Chiku performing at PillowTalk

So you are probably wondering if these poetry guys are serious, like what happened to PillowTalk? Well my answer is that maybe we got it wrong and that the model didn’t work as well as anticipated, or maybe we just didn’t work hard enough… the reasons and excuses might be endless so we will just say sorry for letting our fans down.

So out goes PillowTalk and in comes Word of Mouth Poetry, what is the difference? For starters we have registered Word of Mouth as an arts organisation, so that means we are very serious this time around. Most times we get into projects without thinking about the foundation. We are doing exactly that. We are building a solid foundation all for the development of our art form. We have so many ideas that we want to achieve but we know that passion itself won’t cut it. We need to be organised. So we hope that you will trust us again as we all embark on this journey once again, except this time around we will get to our destination.

Our projects will mainly work around young people and audience development. We feel these areas are vital for not only survival but success of poetry and how it is read, written and performed. We will introduce competitive elements to our events so that we raise the bar of writing and performance. So many more ideas so I will not get excited and pre-empt all of them. How else are we going to end but with a verse…

We are…

a new generation
neither found nor lost
in itself or others
Exploring the width of our pen strokes
between life’s extremes
Finding a new voice
in an ancient art
Discovering answers
to un-asked questions
and meaning to assumed irrelevance

Welcome to Word of Mouth. Join the movement. Spread the word.
